New Headquarters in 2001 The company moved its headquarters from Herndon to Peachtree City in 2001, occupying a new office built for its needs. World launched a restructuring effort following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, led by airline veteran Hollis Harris, and World returned to profitability in 2002. The company has been profitable for eight consecutive quarters, and completed its third consecutive year of profitability in 2004.

World has a firm business plan to diversify revenue sources by adding commercial passenger and cargo customers in addition to serving the Air Mobility Command throughout the world. The company currently serves such well known customers as Menlo Worldwide Forwarding, China Airlines, EVA Airways, Lufthansa Cargo, the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville (Fla.) Jaguars of the National Football League, and various international travel and tour programs. The company is in its fifth year of a contract with Sonair to provide regular passenger service between Houston, Texas and Luanda, Angola for the oil industry.
World Airways carried the 2004 U.S. Paralympic Team to and from Athens, Greece, and provided interim service for stranded Ghana Airways passengers in Ghana and the United States. World jets also carried emergency water supplies for hurricane-ravaged Florida in September 2004.
World has operated the first U.S. aircraft, and the first wide-body aircraft, into Xian, People's Republic of China, from Nuremberg, Germany under a contract with Lufthansa Cargo Charter.
World Airways continues to build upon its strengths as a worldwide operator of international cargo and passenger aircraft, with a strong reputation for flexibility and reliability.
